小林為何會這么說？要知道在很長一段時間里，SAT/ACT都是美國大學本科入學考核評判最重要的標準之一。
然而，近年來，隨著學校對學生綜合素養的重視，“Test Optional”的方式已經被越來越廣泛地接受。再加上疫情影響，眾多學校不約而同地做出了取消標化成績的決定。
每所學校，都在試圖向我們傳達同樣的中心思想：個人的整體表現與綜合能力，才是最根本的評判依據。
那么，如何向學校展現你的綜合能力？
答案很明確：文書。
? 文書與補充文書??
眾所周知申請美國大學時，除了要提交通常一篇個人陳述文章（Personal Statement 簡稱PS）即Common Application系統里面的主文書外，美國各大高校通常還會有自己的補充文書題目，比如芝加哥大學、達特茅斯、圣母大學、密歇根大學、波士頓學院等等。
那么補充文書與主文書又存在著哪些的不同呢？
◾字數要求：補充文書要求字數偏少，一般在150-250字之間，最多不超過500字。
◾主題要求：與主文書確定的6個題目相比較，補充文書更加多元化，形式更加豐富，提問的范圍更加大。
◾結合院校：補充文書的題目很多是需要申請者提供申請該校的原因、自己為什么選擇此專業、做過什么相關活動或實習等等題目，需將自己和申請院校的特點有機的結合在一起來寫。
補充文書要求的字數比主文書要少很多，其實越是簡短，越考驗申請者的思維能力和寫作能力。而且越是排名靠前的常春藤學校，補充文書數量越多，甚至還有些學校，喜歡出偏題、怪題，無厘頭讓人抓狂。

#1：Why Eassy
這類是補充文書中最為常見的一種，從“Why”這個詞中我們就能大概猜出這類文書大致要寫什么。基本就是“為什么申請這所學校？”“為什么選擇這個專業？”......而這類補充文書，招生官主要是想要了解學生是否真正喜歡這所學校，是否與學校的風格契合等。
“Why”類補充文書書寫技巧，分為【文書書寫四步驟】和【靈魂四大關鍵詞】。準備書寫四步驟為：

了解自己：通過頭腦風暴或自我反思在一定程度上了解了自己，知道自己的性格特點以及優勢；

了解學校：通過各種渠道去了解這個學校的特色，找出這個學校吸引你的地方；

找到自己和學校間的聯系：要學會透過表面看事情本質，通過學校的特點與自身相結合，證明自己與學校契合

開始寫作：用一篇具體有力度的文書告訴招生官，我愛這里，我適合這里。
而在書寫的過程中，同學們要掌握靈魂四大關鍵詞：真誠、熱情、匹配、雙贏。從而寫出一篇富有靈魂的補充文書，從而抓住招生官的心。

#2：Interests related questions
通過這類補充文書，學校可以從側面了解到申請者是否與學校具有契合度，是否真的可以在這里得到他們希望得到的東西，學校是否可以幫助學生完成夢想......
無論是書寫哪一類補充文書，有以下幾條tips，大家在寫文書的時候需要注意：
1.任何寫作都要有亮點和主線，并且要和自身相關；
2.千萬別忘了寫出自己喜愛學校，選擇這里的理由；
3.盡量不要提及大學的地位及排名情況；
4.最好別提及大學的創始人或人文歷史之類話題；
5.誠信為本，沒有的盡量不要瞎編。
