在美國，分數固然重要，在申請材料中成績單是不可缺少的。由于美國高中是四年制，所有大學都需要申請人四年的成績單。因此，中國申請人要把從初三開始的成績寄往美國大學，分三次寄走。第一次是1月1日申請截止日期前的成績，第二次是申請過程中的成績，第三次，則是被錄取后的最后成績。你在閱讀申請要求時，會發現任何一所大學都將學業優異作為錄取的最基本的首要條件。但沒有一所大學會僅僅因為你在考試中取得了高人一等的分數而錄取你，因為分數并不能完全說明學業上的潛力，更不能體現人的全面素質。
