This week we celebrateFounders’ Week in honor of the day we first opened our doors on September 17, 1912.

這周，我們舉行“創始人紀念周”活動來慶祝1912年9月17日上海美國學校的創立。

At Shanghai American School, the 1933 yearbook, called "The Columbian"at the time, is rather infamous.

上海美國學校1933年的年鑒《The Columbian》可謂是聲名狼藉了。

The school’s first few decades saw the production of a beautiful set of yearbooks. Each was impeccably designed and produced by students under the guidance of a faculty advisor. The 1933 edition was no different, at least until it arrived at the printer.

最開始的幾十年，上海美國學校的年鑒都非常精美。這些年鑒是學生們在一位老師的指導下精心設計制作。1933年的年鑒也是如此，至少在印刷之前是這樣。

For reasons lost to history, the 1933 yearbook was mistakenly printed in all green ink. It so horrified the editor of the yearbook, she refused to hold a copy in her hands until an alumni reunion in 1988, a mere 55 years later.

由于時間過去太久，原因無法考證，但1933年的年鑒全部以綠色油墨印刷。這讓編輯深感震驚，以至于她直到1988年上海美國學校校友會時才愿意拿上一本當年的年鑒，此時已足足過去了55年。

We celebrate the 1933 yearbook because it’s Founders'Week 2019. And also because, after 86 years, we can all finally laugh about it.

我們之所以重提1933年的年鑒，是因為上海美國學校迎來了2019年創始人紀念周。同時，在過了86年后，我們終于可以會心一笑了。
