This week we celebrateFounders’ Week in honor of the day we first opened our doors on September 17, 1912.

這周，我們舉行“創(chuàng)始人紀(jì)念周”活動來慶祝1912年9月17日上海美國學(xué)校的創(chuàng)立。

At Shanghai American School, the 1933 yearbook, called "The Columbian"at the time, is rather infamous.

上海美國學(xué)校1933年的年鑒《The Columbian》可謂是聲名狼藉了。

The school’s first few decades saw the production of a beautiful set of yearbooks. Each was impeccably designed and produced by students under the guidance of a faculty advisor. The 1933 edition was no different, at least until it arrived at the printer.

最開始的幾十年，上海美國學(xué)校的年鑒都非常精美。這些年鑒是學(xué)生們在一位老師的指導(dǎo)下精心設(shè)計(jì)制作。1933年的年鑒也是如此，至少在印刷之前是這樣。

For reasons lost to history, the 1933 yearbook was mistakenly printed in all green ink. It so horrified the editor of the yearbook, she refused to hold a copy in her hands until an alumni reunion in 1988, a mere 55 years later.

由于時(shí)間過去太久，原因無法考證，但1933年的年鑒全部以綠色油墨印刷。這讓編輯深感震驚，以至于她直到1988年上海美國學(xué)校校友會時(shí)才愿意拿上一本當(dāng)年的年鑒，此時(shí)已足足過去了55年。

We celebrate the 1933 yearbook because it’s Founders'Week 2019. And also because, after 86 years, we can all finally laugh about it.

我們之所以重提1933年的年鑒，是因?yàn)樯虾Ｃ绹鴮W(xué)校迎來了2019年創(chuàng)始人紀(jì)念周。同時(shí)，在過了86年后，我們終于可以會心一笑了。
