In an interconnected world where nearly everything is intentionally designed, any new thing we put into the world will have ripple effects on our environment, society and habits. In other words, a lot of the environmental, economic and social challenges we face today are a result of the short-sighted, and even careless design decisions. From Product to PSS: Understand Product-Service-Systems and Rethink our Economy Responsibly
我們生活的世界里一次性產(chǎn)品和使用周期短的產(chǎn)品極為泛濫，而這些產(chǎn)品現(xiàn)在正堆積在我們的垃圾填埋場(chǎng)和海洋里。為什么產(chǎn)品要以這種方式存在呢? 產(chǎn)品通常是滿足需求的一種方式，但是為了達(dá)到我們期望的結(jié)果，我們是否真的需要使用這個(gè)產(chǎn)品，有句老話說(shuō)“你不需要鉆頭，你需要的是墻上有一個(gè)洞”。如果我們將思維模式從生產(chǎn)和消費(fèi)經(jīng)濟(jì)轉(zhuǎn)向滿足經(jīng)濟(jì)會(huì)產(chǎn)生什么變化呢? 如果產(chǎn)品變得更少，更共享和更耐用會(huì)怎樣呢? 或者，如果產(chǎn)品與服務(wù)合并或被服務(wù)取代又會(huì)怎樣呢? 這些問(wèn)題我們將從產(chǎn)品服務(wù)系統(tǒng)（PSS）概念中找到答案，與此同時(shí)，我們將嘗試用產(chǎn)品服務(wù)系統(tǒng)（PSS）概念替換產(chǎn)品，以此來(lái)創(chuàng)建一個(gè)更持續(xù)發(fā)展的經(jīng)濟(jì)模式。
We live in a world of disposable and short-lived products which are now piling up in our landfills and oceans. Why does it have to be this way? A product is nothing more than a way to satisfy a need and more often than not, we don’t even need to own a product, we just need the result: “You don’t need a drill, you need a hole in the wall,” as the saying goes. What would happen if we shifted our mindset from an economy of production and consumption, to an economy of satisfaction? What if products were shared and more durable? Or what if they were combined with or replaced by services? These are some of the questions we’ll tackle in this Product-Service-System (PSS) Workshop, where we will experiment with replacing products with PSS concepts in an effort to create a more sustainable economy.

Gabriele Tempesta 曾擔(dān)任米蘭理工大學(xué)的工業(yè)設(shè)計(jì)師一職。當(dāng)他還是一個(gè)學(xué)生的時(shí)候，他很快意識(shí)到我們的大規(guī)模生產(chǎn)及消費(fèi)體系是不可持續(xù)的，他選擇把他的設(shè)計(jì)事業(yè)投入到公益而不是商業(yè)，同時(shí)尋找一種具責(zé)任感的設(shè)計(jì)方式。在他的職業(yè)生涯中，他探索了許多領(lǐng)域，如可持續(xù)發(fā)展設(shè)計(jì)和以人為中心的設(shè)計(jì)，并在YANG設(shè)計(jì)的城市創(chuàng)新部門重新開啟了他的職業(yè)生涯，在那里他設(shè)計(jì)了城市家具和標(biāo)志，以及參與了非營(yíng)利組織的社會(huì)創(chuàng)新項(xiàng)目。為了實(shí)現(xiàn)更以人為本的設(shè)計(jì)理念，他現(xiàn)在正在幫助蘇邑（中國(guó)領(lǐng)先的城市規(guī)劃設(shè)計(jì)公司）在上海建立一個(gè)跨學(xué)科的創(chuàng)新實(shí)驗(yàn)室“城市創(chuàng)新中心”。“城市創(chuàng)新中心”的使命是通過(guò)將設(shè)計(jì)思維與傳統(tǒng)的城市規(guī)劃相結(jié)合來(lái)創(chuàng)造更加包容和可持續(xù)的城市。
Gabriele Tempesta is a (former) industrial designer from Politecnico di Milano. While still a student, he realized too soon the un-sustainability of our mass production-consumption system and chose to dedicate his design career to serve the public interest rather than commercial one, while searching for a more responsible way of designing. Throughout his ongoing journey, he explored many fields such as design for sustainability and human-centered design, and started his career in YANG DESIGN City Innovation Department, where he developed city furniture and signage, as well as social innovation projects for non-profit organizations. He is now helping SUYI, a Chinese leading urban development company, to become more human-centered by establishing a cross-disciplinary innovation lab in Shanghai, called Urban Studio, whose mission is to create more inclusive and sustainable cities by blending design thinking with traditional urban planning.
