申請(qǐng)心得——英國(guó)曼徹斯特大學(xué)（The University of Manchester）

特別感謝重慶工商大學(xué)2015級(jí)工程管理優(yōu)秀畢業(yè)生劉嬌同學(xué)提供英國(guó)留學(xué)資訊。在我印象中，她是一個(gè)特別有想法的女生，從大一開(kāi)始就已經(jīng)有了出國(guó)留學(xué)的規(guī)劃，并且為這個(gè)目標(biāo)不斷努力直到實(shí)現(xiàn)。通過(guò)平時(shí)上課，我發(fā)現(xiàn)她也特別喜歡和老師交流，溝通起來(lái)很順暢，而且悟性極高。我在指導(dǎo)她畢業(yè)論文時(shí)發(fā)現(xiàn)，她的理解能力和寫(xiě)作能力也非常好，最終畢業(yè)論文獲得了優(yōu)秀等級(jí)。

讓我們跟著這位學(xué)姐一起，了解一下大學(xué)應(yīng)該如何規(guī)劃好留學(xué)夢(mèng)以及英國(guó)曼徹斯特大學(xué)的留學(xué)信息吧！

一、留學(xué)起源及經(jīng)過(guò)

1、留學(xué)夢(mèng)緣起

2015年9月，作為一名大學(xué)新生，我滿懷好奇進(jìn)入重慶工商大學(xué)。剛上大學(xué)的我跟許多同學(xué)一樣對(duì)未來(lái)充滿了迷茫和未知。但是大一上期的一門叫大學(xué)生職業(yè)規(guī)劃的課程給我?guī)?lái)了改變。在這門課程上，我第一次試著根據(jù)我認(rèn)為自己喜歡的方向?yàn)樽约鹤隽艘淮卧敿?xì)的職業(yè)規(guī)劃，雖然后來(lái)的發(fā)展方向跟當(dāng)時(shí)規(guī)劃的完全不一樣，可這卻讓我意識(shí)到我不能再迷茫和不知所措，我應(yīng)該要開(kāi)始為自己的未來(lái)做一個(gè)計(jì)劃了。大一下期，我參加了學(xué)校組織和第三方機(jī)構(gòu)組織的歷時(shí)7天的香港企業(yè)學(xué)習(xí)之行。說(shuō)實(shí)話，去到香港學(xué)習(xí)的公司我并沒(méi)有學(xué)到太多的專業(yè)知識(shí)，但是我卻被香港這個(gè)城市深深震驚了，我看到了它多元的文化，感受到了國(guó)際化的魅力，接觸到了來(lái)自不同國(guó)家和不同地方的佼佼者，我想像他們一樣優(yōu)秀，像他們一樣每天在一個(gè)國(guó)際化的環(huán)境中工作，因此我心中便萌發(fā)了出國(guó)留學(xué)的想法。

2、資金支持

對(duì)于普通家庭而言，出國(guó)留學(xué)并不是一件容易的事。從香港回到內(nèi)地，經(jīng)過(guò)自己深思熟慮，我把自己的想法告訴了爸媽。爸媽知道后表示非常支持。在這里，我想提醒各位有出國(guó)留學(xué)想法的小伙伴，出國(guó)留學(xué)不是你一個(gè)人的事，請(qǐng)一定要自己思考清楚后再與父母商量并獲得支持之后再進(jìn)一步做準(zhǔn)備。

3、申請(qǐng)準(zhǔn)備

各位申請(qǐng)出國(guó)留學(xué)的同學(xué)都應(yīng)該知道，申請(qǐng)最首要的就是大學(xué)四年的平均績(jī)點(diǎn)。為了讓自己的平均績(jī)點(diǎn)盡量高一些，我從大二開(kāi)始更加重視自己的GPA，重視自己的專業(yè)表現(xiàn)，參與了很多專業(yè)相關(guān)的活動(dòng)。其次就是語(yǔ)言成績(jī)，希望各位有報(bào)班想法的小伙伴一定要先自己多考察，其實(shí)有很多線上的網(wǎng)課比線下的一對(duì)一教學(xué)更好，當(dāng)然這也看個(gè)人的學(xué)習(xí)體驗(yàn)。就我個(gè)人而言，備考雅思或者托福，最好選擇一段連續(xù)的時(shí)間，讓自己更加專心的學(xué)習(xí)，這樣考過(guò)的機(jī)會(huì)也更大一些。再者，就是其他加分能力，比如實(shí)習(xí)經(jīng)歷，獲獎(jiǎng)經(jīng)歷，學(xué)術(shù)經(jīng)歷（如課題研究，創(chuàng)業(yè)活動(dòng)等），志愿者經(jīng)歷等能夠體現(xiàn)出自己的專業(yè)實(shí)踐能力。這些經(jīng)歷越多越好，經(jīng)歷的越豐富才更能體現(xiàn)出自身的能力，才能讓自己更有競(jìng)爭(zhēng)力，從而才能讓學(xué)校更多的關(guān)注你。

4、遞交申請(qǐng)

做好前面的一系列準(zhǔn)備之后，在大四上期（2018年11月份中旬）申請(qǐng)了香港和英國(guó)的諸多高校，2019年1月18號(hào)收到曼大offer，經(jīng)過(guò)比較和選擇，最終選擇了曼大。建議大家在申請(qǐng)的時(shí)候，多給自己一些選擇，盡量多申請(qǐng)一些學(xué)校，不要孤注一擲。

5、就讀體驗(yàn)

剛來(lái)到曼城，感覺(jué)這個(gè)城市并沒(méi)有我想象得那樣好。慢慢地，等我開(kāi)始融入到這個(gè)城市和曼大的生活中后，我發(fā)現(xiàn)這里的人其實(shí)挺和善和友好的。但是在學(xué)習(xí)方面就讓我有很大的不適應(yīng)了。因?yàn)榱?xí)慣了國(guó)內(nèi)大學(xué)的填鴨式教學(xué)，有時(shí)就習(xí)慣性等老師布置每天的作業(yè)，而英國(guó)的教學(xué)是老師在課前就會(huì)在官網(wǎng)上掛出這門課程需要閱讀的reading list，學(xué)習(xí)全靠自覺(jué)和主動(dòng)學(xué)習(xí)，如果偷懶不讀的話，在課堂上就只會(huì)無(wú)言以對(duì)老師的提問(wèn)，這樣不僅會(huì)造成在課上的小組討論中無(wú)話可說(shuō)還會(huì)影響到自己的平時(shí)成績(jī)。所以，想要出國(guó)留學(xué)的同學(xué)們還是要有思想準(zhǔn)備，從大學(xué)開(kāi)始就轉(zhuǎn)變?cè)瓉?lái)高中的學(xué)習(xí)方法和態(tài)度，畢竟你要拿的是研究生學(xué)位。

6、建議

走過(guò)了申請(qǐng)的路，我也明白了這其中的酸甜苦辣，或許有時(shí)會(huì)被旁人不一樣的觀點(diǎn)動(dòng)搖自己申請(qǐng)和選擇的決心，但是希望各位申請(qǐng)的小伙伴都能堅(jiān)持初心，既然選擇了，就做好準(zhǔn)備，有一天你想要的那封offer會(huì)驚喜的出現(xiàn)在你的郵箱里的！

（一）基本信息

2.地理位置

曼徹斯特大學(xué)坐落在世界上第一座工業(yè)化城市——英國(guó)曼徹斯特市。曼徹斯特緊鄰謝菲爾德、利物浦、利茲、布萊克浦，離英國(guó)兩大國(guó)家公園峰區(qū)和湖區(qū)也非常近。曼徹斯特的交通十分發(fā)達(dá)，是英國(guó)的交通樞紐之一，從曼城每天有數(shù)趟火車直達(dá)倫敦，全程僅需2個(gè)小時(shí)，去蘇格蘭首府愛(ài)丁堡也只要3個(gè)半小時(shí)。曼徹斯特大學(xué)附近就有可以直達(dá)曼徹斯特機(jī)場(chǎng)的公交和火車，火車僅二十分鐘就可以到達(dá)機(jī)場(chǎng)，而公交也只需要不到一小時(shí)。

（二）Entry Requirements（入學(xué)條件）

1.?Minimum 2:1 Honours degree (or international equivalent).

2.?A?minimum overall average grade of 80% or a minimum GPA of 3.0 (out of 4.0) will be considered for admission

3.?Applicants whose first language is not English must meet the following language requirements:

We will consider applicants who do not meet these scores but you may be required to attend a pre-sessional English language course at the University of Manchester, or to demonstrate an improvement in your language scores prior to the start of your course.

8.?English language test validity

Some English Language test results are only valid for two years. Your English Language test report must be valid on the start date of the course.

9.?Relevant work experience

Admission of candidates who do not meet our academic entry qualification criteria may be approved if satisfactory evidence of postgraduate study, research or professional experience can be provided.

10.?Professional entry qualification

Due to the vocational nature of this course, appropriate professional experience may additionally be taken into account as part of the admissions process.

We offer a number of postgraduate taught scholarships and merit awards to outstanding applicants and international students.

In addition, the Manchester Alumni Scholarship Scheme offers a ￡3,000 reduction in tuition fees to University of Manchester alumni who achieved a first-class Bachelors degree and are progressing to a postgraduate taught masters course.
