Don't Believe in Luck; Believe only in Hard Work!

近年來，美國(guó)一批包括常春藤大學(xué)在內(nèi)的著名高等學(xué)府的錄取率連創(chuàng)新低，頂級(jí)名校的入學(xué)名額成為極為稀缺的資源，其激烈的競(jìng)爭(zhēng)程度讓人嘆為觀止。

Among the many applicants worldwide, there are many students that are not only academically capable and well-rounded but also supported by a strong family background. In recent years, due to the influence of social media, a variety of articles describing US college admissions has filled parents’ social media feeds. Such news has once again brought attention to the US application process as well as concern to the parents of aspiring children. They commonly ask, “Is it still possible for my children to have a fair chance in the college application process?”

放眼全球，在為數(shù)眾多的申請(qǐng)人當(dāng)中，不乏一些不僅學(xué)業(yè)優(yōu)秀，個(gè)人綜合素質(zhì)強(qiáng)，而且家庭背景實(shí)力異常雄厚的申請(qǐng)者。過去幾年中，由于社交媒體越來越強(qiáng)大，各類關(guān)于美國(guó)名牌大學(xué)招生的解讀和新聞充斥著家長(zhǎng)們的“朋友圈”。這再次把眾人的視線集中到美國(guó)知名大學(xué)的招生上，也讓那些想要把子女送到美國(guó)就讀名校的家長(zhǎng)們?cè)俣瓤嚲o了本已緊張的神經(jīng)。他們不斷發(fā)問：不占有生產(chǎn)資料和人脈資源的我們，子女還有多少進(jìn)入美國(guó)名校的競(jìng)爭(zhēng)機(jī)會(huì)？

Shanghai High School International Division (SHSID) is a school located in Shanghai’s Xuhui District for international students. The school encompasses grades one through twelve and has over 2,800 students from over 60 different countries, the majority of which are Asian. Upon enrollment, parents no longer have to worry about their children’s education as the school cares for each and every student with its “no child left behind” policy from Grade 1 to Grade 12, striving to ensure that each student successfully graduates from high school. Each year, approximately 50% of SHSID graduates enroll in US colleges, while the others choose to go to Canada, Australia, the UK, Singapore, Japan, Korea, or other countries around the globe. The majority of SHSID students come from middle class families. Out of the students applying to US colleges, around 90% enroll in a Top 50 university each year; there are also acceptances from Harvard University, Yale University, Princeton University, Stanford University, or MIT annually. 上海中學(xué)國(guó)際部（簡(jiǎn)稱上中國(guó)際）是一所地處上海市徐匯區(qū)的外籍人員子女學(xué)校，招收1-12年級(jí)學(xué)生，目前在校生數(shù)超過2800人，學(xué)生生源來自60多個(gè)國(guó)家和地區(qū)，其中亞裔學(xué)生居多。學(xué)生一旦在某個(gè)年級(jí)被錄取，相當(dāng)于乘上了基礎(chǔ)教育直通車，家長(zhǎng)不用再為子女的擇校焦慮，因?yàn)檫@所學(xué)校關(guān)注每一位學(xué)生的學(xué)習(xí)體驗(yàn)，實(shí)行“零淘汰”，爭(zhēng)取讓每一位學(xué)生順利高中畢業(yè)。上中國(guó)際每屆畢業(yè)生前往美國(guó)深造的人數(shù)比例約為50%，其余畢業(yè)生前往加拿大，澳大利亞，英國(guó)，新加坡，日本，韓國(guó)等國(guó)家和地區(qū)深造。畢業(yè)生中的大部分來自知識(shí)分子或中產(chǎn)階級(jí)家庭。在實(shí)行1-12年級(jí)“零淘汰”的背景下，上中國(guó)際近年來畢業(yè)生被美國(guó)本科排名前50的大學(xué)錄取率穩(wěn)定在90%以上。這樣的結(jié)果頗為不易，且每年都收獲“哈耶普斯麻”之類頂級(jí)名校的錄取。（學(xué)校官方網(wǎng)站：www.shsid.org）
