美國大學(xué)本科申請中STEM專業(yè)最為火熱，就讀STEM專業(yè)不僅會比普通學(xué)生額外多出24個月的OPT時間，畢業(yè)后有3年的時間留在美國工作。

何為STEM專業(yè)？
STEM代表：科學(xué)（Science）、技術(shù)（Technology）、工程（Engineering） 、數(shù)學(xué)（Mathematics）。在國家實力的比較中，獲得STEM學(xué)位的人數(shù)成為一個重要的指標。
因此STEM計劃是一項鼓勵學(xué)生主修科學(xué)、技術(shù)、工程和數(shù)學(xué)領(lǐng)域?qū)W位的計劃，并不斷加大科學(xué)、技術(shù)、工程和數(shù)學(xué)教育的投入，培養(yǎng)學(xué)生的科技理工素養(yǎng)。
2016年5月10日，美國國土安全部公布了STEM專業(yè)列表（422個），大家可以通過此表查詢確認，如果你的專業(yè)出現(xiàn)在了下面的列表中，那么你在今后便可享受STEM OPT延期的福利。
另外，此列表對于“相關(guān)領(lǐng)域”進行了說明：相關(guān)領(lǐng)域是指與以上四大類領(lǐng)域相關(guān)的研究、創(chuàng)新或者新科技研發(fā)。
列表中為各專業(yè)按領(lǐng)域劃分制定了相應(yīng)編號，STEM專業(yè)四大領(lǐng)域的CIP Code分別是：工程類 (CIP code 14)，生物科學(xué)類 (CIP code 26)，數(shù)學(xué)與統(tǒng)計學(xué)類(CIP code 27)，物理科學(xué)類 (CIP code 40)。一旦有新的STEM專業(yè)出現(xiàn)，會被自動添加到列表。
