The Secrets Behind the 27 Medals ｜27枚獎牌背后的秘密

On Saturday, April 20, the 2019 SSSA Track and Field Meet was held at YKPS Secondary School. Twelve international schools at Shanghai attended this event. The FDIS sports team, with 20 members in total from all grades, participated and won 27 medals, as detailed below.4月20日星期六，2019年上海國際學校體育運動聯盟田徑運動會在包玉剛實驗學校舉行。滬上12所國際學校參加了此次體育盛事。復旦附中國際部的田徑隊，來自不同學段的20名隊員，也參加了這次比賽，并取得了如下27枚獎牌的好成績！

How did they achieve such good results? Below are three points summarized from interviews with all the participants.他們是如何取得如此好的成績的呢？以下是從比賽到場者的采訪中得到的三個要點。

1. Teamwork and practice– the biggest secret behind the relay race medals |團隊精神和訓練——接力賽獎牌后的秘密

One of the highlights of this competition is that FDIS athletes received most of the medals in the relay races. Coaches and parents have noticed that, although the speed of individual athletes may not be the fastest, we are definitely the best when it comes to the handoff sessions. This is because we received consistently vigorous training and guidance from the coach.此次比賽的一大亮點，是我校的接力賽選手包攬了男女生接力賽里大部分的獎項。在場的教練和家長們都注意到，盡管我們的參賽選手在個人速度上并非最快的，但是在接力賽的接棒環節卻是做得最好的。這也得益于隊員們平日里持之以恒的刻苦訓練和教練們的悉心指導。

2.Fun and excitement – from zero to four medals |樂趣和興奮——個人表現從0到4塊獎牌的飛躍

Among all the reflections of the athletes, “fun” was frequently mentioned. And the reasons for that varied. Some met new friends in such a big competition, while some were excited about competing and full of a sense of achievement because of the medals they won.在運動員們的賽后感想中，“樂趣”是經常被提及的一個詞。有趣的原因各種各樣，有的是在這次集會比賽中交到了新的朋友，還有的是因為第一次參賽的興奮感和獲得獎牌的成就感。What’s especially fun is that there was one athlete from Middle School who wasn’t doing well at the beginning, so the coach promised to reward her a cup of milk-tea if she won a medal. She became greatly motivated and ultimately won 4 medals.

有趣的是，有一個初中選手在開始時狀態不佳，教練說如果得到獎牌就請她喝最愛的奶茶，這位選手頓時來了精神，一口氣拿下了4塊獎牌。

And of course, in addition to such feelings and stories of fun and excitement, there were also reflections about sports itself. Below are some of those, from both the athletes and parents.當然，在興奮與樂趣之外，也少不了對運動會本身的反思。以下是運動員和在場家長們對于這次比賽的感想。

3.Support from both the school and parents |來自學校和家長的支持

For some students, this was their first competition, but for two coaches it was another set of weekend training and chaperoning. As we all know, FDIS has a small campus and sports venues can be limited, but the school has been actively coordinating to nevertheless give our students practice opportunities. In addition to the sharing of venues among the three campuses on Guoquan Road, special venues such as swimming pools and badminton halls have been rented from outside. Our two coaches are versatile and adept, teaching all grade levels at our school, and they frequently commute between training venues after school and on weekends.此次比賽，對于有的學生而言，是第一次；但是對于兩位教練而言，則是平日里諸多周末訓練和帶隊中的一天。眾所周知，我校面積較小，諸多運動場地受限，但是學校一直在積極協調，除了國權路上三個校區之間的場地共享，還向外租用了諸如游泳池和羽毛球館等專項場地。兩位田徑教練不僅多多項全能，而且所教課程也幾乎覆蓋了全學段，課余和周末經常往返于各個訓練場地之間。

Also in attendance were 15 parents of our athletes, as well as younger sisters and brothers who are now studying in Grade 1. Not only did they witness how our athletes’ talents soared and how they challenged their own limits, but their presence also bolstered a strong sense of pride and willingness to participate in our team members.除了教練和運動員，到場支持的還有15 位家長及運動員們還在一年級的弟弟妹妹們。他們不僅見證了我們的運動員能力的爆發和對自身極限的挑戰，也激發了強烈的自豪感和參與意愿。
