Sometimes in the midst of an extensive college search, you find your dream school by total accident.Graduating from Shanghai American School’sPudongcampus this year,Adeena Liangis then headed toPomona College.

你是如何決定就讀波莫納學院的？

IwasmainlythereforaDisneylandtripwithmyfriends,andneededanexcuseformyparentstoletmegotoLAforaweek!

在前往洛杉磯參觀各個大學之前，我并不知道波莫納學院。我主要是想跟朋友一起去迪士尼樂園玩，需要找一個借口，好讓我爸媽允許我在洛杉磯呆上一周的時間。

Then from the tour I saw that the campus is really pretty (the weather was amazing as well).

That, combined with information sessions about academics, I found I really liked the vibe of the school.

It's a really small school, which is what I was looking for,

and it is one of the most diverse colleges in the US (which now that I think about it, is really similar to SAS).

Once I decided to apply, I felt like it was the right choice.

在參觀大學的過程中，我發現波莫納學院的校園非常漂亮（氣候也非常怡人）。聽了關于波莫納學院教學方面的介紹后，我非常喜歡這所學校的氛圍。這是一所非常小的學校，正是我所期望的。波莫納學院是美國最具多元化的大學之一（現在想想，這一點跟上海美國學校真的很像）。當我提交申請后，我感覺自己做出了正確的選擇。

在搜索大學的過程中最好和最壞的一點分別是什么？

The worst part about the college search process is that there are just so many options.

There are bigor small schools, schools in cities, suburbs,

or middle-of-nowhere towns. There are schools that are STEM-based and schools that really value sports or extracurriculars.

The hard part is figuring out what you want in the colleges you're applying to.

大學搜索過程最壞的一點就是選擇太多了。大學有大有小，有的在市區，有的在郊區，有的在偏遠的小鎮上。有的大學側重STEM（科學、技術、工程、數學），有的大學側重體育運動或課外活動。最難的就是弄清楚你希望在自己申請的大學里學到什么。

The best part about the college search process is finding schools (and its student populations) that you really vibe with.

Once you find schools that really fit you, everything gets so much more exciting,

because you know that there are people out there with similar interests and hobbies and passions.

大學搜索過程最好的一點就是找到自己真正能夠產生共鳴的大學（和同學）。一旦找到了真正適合自己的大學，一切都會變得更加令人興奮，因為你知道有人與自己志趣相投。

你計劃修讀什么專業？

實際上我還沒決定。我正在考慮修讀環境分析專業。我是上海美國學校“根與芽”項目的一員，我非常喜歡這個項目。我們在花壇里進行有機園藝，發起了一個堆肥項目，把餐廳的食物殘渣制成堆肥，用于改善我們的園藝土壤。

Doyoufeelreadyforcollege?Whyorwhynot?

I feel like I'm ready. The SAS alumni I've talked to have all told me that SAS prepares its students really well for college. According to them, college is going to be harder than high school, but nothing that's not manageable. Also, I'm ready to go to college because I feel like I can further pursue my passions there. Whether it's doing more service work, continuing composting and gardening on campus but on a much larger scale, or even participating in student council again, I'm ready to do that.

你認為自己為上大學做好準備了嗎？為什么這么認為？

我認為自己做好了準備。我接觸到的上海美國學校校友都告訴我說，上海美國學校能夠讓學生為大學做好充足的準備。據他們說，大學要比高中困難，但沒有什么是應付不了的。此外，我期待去上大學，因為我感覺自己能夠在大學里進一步追逐自己的夢想。不論是從事更多服務工作，在校園里以更大的規模繼續實施堆肥和園藝項目，還是再一次加入學生會，我都做好了準備。

有沒有什么是你非常期待的？

我期待很多事情。例如，波莫納學院有一個非常炫酷的項目：校園里有一個特別的食堂，在那個食堂里不準說英語。我目前在說中文，但我想學西班牙語。波莫納學院地處加利福尼亞南部地區，因此西班牙語將會非常有用。
