美國的很多名校以及華爾街對數(shù)學(xué)好的學(xué)生情有獨(dú)鐘,而我們中國學(xué)生普遍理工科較好，??如何利用好這個優(yōu)勢，爭取在權(quán)威的美國各類數(shù)學(xué)學(xué)術(shù)活動中取得名次，從而給申請美高、美本加分？這是很多中國家長關(guān)心的問題。

提起美國權(quán)威的數(shù)學(xué)學(xué)術(shù)活動，許多人都知道AMC這一數(shù)學(xué)愛好者的國際盛會，著名的麻省理工MIT和加州理工CalTech的入學(xué)申請書中，特意有一欄讓申請者填寫全美數(shù)學(xué)邀請賽AIME (American Invitational Mathematics Examination)的分?jǐn)?shù)，美國名校對數(shù)學(xué)好的學(xué)生有多青睞由此可見。而除了AMC，還有不少高含金量的學(xué)術(shù)活動未被熟知，今天小E就為大家介紹另一項美國知名數(shù)學(xué)學(xué)術(shù)活動——

美國北卡數(shù)學(xué)學(xué)術(shù)活動North Carolina State Mathematics Competition（SMC）

賽事簡介

美國北卡數(shù)學(xué)學(xué)術(shù)活動（The North Carolina State Mathematics Contest ，縮寫SMC）始于 1979年, 由北卡數(shù)學(xué)教師協(xié)會（NCCTM）發(fā)起，至今已舉辦40屆。由多所美國大學(xué)、學(xué)院承辦區(qū)域資格賽（Qualifying Contests），資格賽的優(yōu)勝者（約8%）參加全州的總決賽（SMC，Comprehensive，F(xiàn)inal）。總決賽的賽場設(shè)在美國第一所理科實(shí)驗學(xué)校（NCSSM北卡數(shù)學(xué)與科學(xué)學(xué)校）。由于北卡數(shù)學(xué)學(xué)術(shù)活動擁有專業(yè)的命題委員會且在美國當(dāng)?shù)鼐哂泻芨叩恼J(rèn)可度和影響力，杜克大學(xué)、北卡教堂山、維克森林、戴維德森學(xué)院等20多所大學(xué)均為當(dāng)?shù)爻煽儍?yōu)異者提供全額或部分的獎學(xué)金。

自2018年起，應(yīng)美方邀請，中國學(xué)生可在國內(nèi)參加SMC資格賽及總決賽。比賽由中國組委會舉辦，均采用美方相同的比賽賽制、相同的英文試題、評分規(guī)則，總決賽優(yōu)勝者將獲得相關(guān)證書，名列前茅者由美方公布于官網(wǎng)（https://sites.google.com/site/statemathcontest/home）。2018年4月，來自四川的20位學(xué)生參加了這兩項賽事，相關(guān)成績已在其官網(wǎng)公布。

I participated in the NC State Math Contest in 1982 and 1983. I have always enjoyed the kind of quick, clever problem solving that you come across in math contests. Having to think creatively and rigorously, under intense time pressure, about a wide variety of things, is fun and exciting in a very special way. And I still like puzzles, especially the kind that seem impossible until you find just the right way to think about them. Math contests were good training for my mind in ways that I never would have imagined.

My favorite memory around the NC state mathematics contest was 1988. This was the first year that ARML was at Duke. As a way to reward the students making up the NC team, we spent a weekend at a big beach house. A lot of the time was inside doing math problems, but we still got to play in the ocean, toss Frisbees ?in the sand, and go for walks down beach. It was a lot of fun – a good mix of outdoor and indoor activity and a wild mix of people.

I had the good fortune to participate in the State Math Contest for six years, from 1988 to 1993. ?The best part of the State Math Contest, however, wasn't even the contest itself; it was the chance to meet kids from all over ?the state who shared my enthusiasm. These were a great group of students, not at all the stereotypical "nerds" of popular folklore, bound together by their common love of mathematics. It was a joy, and an all too infrequent pleasure, to see these kindred souls, and I'm very grateful to the State Math Contest for giving me these opportunities.

I first participated in the North Carolina State Math Contest in the spring of 1990, when I was in sixth grade. From seventh grade onward I attended these high school students' weekly?math team practices, geared towards training us for contests like the AHSME, AIME, regional contests, and?the North Carolina State Math Contest. The NC State Contest in particular served as the culmination of each?year of practices and contests, since it was usually the last contest to be held during the school year.
